Book Review: Graceling by Kristin Cashore

OK, this book has one of the most awesome heroines that I've ever met between the covers of a book! If you cheered out loud when Bella finally started kicking some vampire butt in Breaking Dawn, you'll love Katsa.

Katsa's world is not like ours- she is one of the Graced, a select, feared group of people whose amazing powers belong to and are controlled by the kings. Katsa's Grace, though, is different from that of others at court, the ones that give powers to see far, hear all, read minds, or shoot an arrow without once missing the target- hers is a Grace that even she hates and fears in herself- a killing Grace.

When Katsa first encounters the dazzling silver and gold eyes of Prince Po, the one Graceling that just might be a match for her, she finds her world, and her Grace, turned on its end. Graced with fighting, Po follows Katsa back from a secret mission to her uncle the King's court to find answers about his kidnapped grandfather. Together, they combine their Graces to begin unraveling the mystery of Po's grandfather, a mystery that leads them both into a harrowing adventure that causes Katsa to question the very nature of her Grace and threatens to reveal a dark deception neither Katsa nor Po could have forseen...

If you love epic adventure (think: Lord of the Rings) and spunky heroines (think... well, Katsa is so awesome, I don't think I can compare her to another literary character!), check Graceling out @ the library!
