Book Review: Stuck on Earth by David Klass

Tom Filber is an average 14 year old boy, making him the perfect host body for Ketchvar III to observe human life. Of course, observation is necessary before the human race is wiped out and the Lugonians will be able to inhabit planet Earth to escape their planet, which is being threatened by a sun on verge of becoming a black hole.

Human life is confusing for Ketchvar, even with Tom's help. After being harassed at home, picked on by bullies, and confused at school, Ketchvar is sure that humans are wasting their beautiful planet.

Ketchvar's observations of life on earth take this from a typical "realistic" novel, to a science fiction adventure. You'll laugh at his observations about humans, and see "Earth" problems in a different light. Tom's problems at home and at school may be sad and realistic, but Ketchvar has an intersting way to process things. Will help from the cute girl next door and an old teacher's wish for an environmental club give Ketchvar enough information to see the good in humans, or are humans doomed to be wiped off their own planet?

Fans of humorous science fiction will find a lot to like here. The story moves fast, and it would make a great summer read, out on the porch. Just watch out for space ships!

I'll see you @ the library!
