Book Review: Fat Vampire by Adam Rex

Vampires are supposed to be beautiful creatures of the night who can lure their prey with their charm and grace.

Then there is Doug. Doug, a new vampire, turned at 15 before he lost that last bit of baby fat and before he ever had a chance to rise above his comic-con geek status. It's not easy trying to get blood when he isn't even sure how to talk to girls.

Faced with an eternity as a pudgy teenage boy, Doug doesn't know what to do. How does he get blood? Why can't he do anything cool like turn into a bat? With the help of his best friend Jay, they start to figure out the difference between vampire myth and truth. Then there is Sejal, an exchange student from India, living with her totally normal "parents" and best friend/ sister Cat, whom the boys start hanging out with and add in the popular TV show Vampire Hunters, that got wind of Doug's antics in San Diego at Comic Con, and Doug's life suddenly a lot more interesting.

Fat Vampire is a funny, strange look at teenage vampires who aren't as perfect as in some other books. Did you ever wonder what it would be like to to stuck for an eternity as your 15 year old self? Doug isn't just a vampire, he truly is a teenage boy. who is not a nice guy to begin with. Be ready to laugh, think and be surprised by where Fat Vampire takes you.

Pick this book up for the cover, start reading for the premise and be prepared to be wowed by the ending.

I'll see you @ the library!
