Book Review: The Fox Inheritance by Mary E. Pearson

A year ago, Locke and Kara woke up. Raised by Dr. Gatsbro, they realize there is a lot they have missed, in fact over 260 years have passed since they were in a fatal car accident and declared dead. Locked in a black box of memories and nothingness they had nothing but each other, until the doctor re-created their bodies and gave them a second chance at life.

Dr. Gatsbro seems to have their best interests at heart, and when an important visitor comes to meet them, his best interests become more apparent. Kara and Locke are little more than illegal specimens to show people what they can do to extend their own lives past death. Faced with a future of being hidden and on display for investors, Kara and Locke escape, putting their lives in danger, and set off find an old friend who has a long legacy.

Now on the run, Locke is questioning everything he knew from the past year with Dr. Gatsbro, plus his past, which isn't easy to face due to it being so far in the past. Family, friends and history have all moved on, and yet here he is, with little to hold on to except his friendship with Kara and Jenna. After losing Kara, he sets off with his former maid, Miesha and Dot Jefferson, the bot who aided him in escaping the manor.

Hold on to your hats for this follow up to The Adoration of Jenna Fox. Author Mary E. Pearson creates a stand alone story using some of the same characters in a world that is very different from the one we live in. Locke and Kara go on the run pretty soon in the book, and the chase to find Jenna, get away from Dr. Gatsbro and figure out what they are is pretty intense.

Fans of science fiction and adventure will not be disappointed with The Fox Inheritance, and you don't need to read The Adoration of Jenna Fox to follow this story, however I'll bet you'll be dying to know Jenna's story, and hoping for a third book!

I'll see you @ the library!
