Banned Books Week: September 27-October 4

Every year, librarians, booksellers, teachers and other book lovers celebrate the "right to read" with Banned Book Week. Many classics and favorite books are challenged every year, because someone, somewhere finds the book objectionable in some way.

Some challenged books of 2007 include The Chocolate War by Robert Cormier, The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain and TTYL by Lauren Myracle.

Here's a link to the "Most Challenged Books of the 21st Century (2000-2005)" that ALA (American Library Association) published. http://www.ala.org/ala/aboutala/offices/oif/bannedbooksweek/bbwlinks/topten2000to2005.cfm

How many have you read?

I'll see you @ the library!

Currently re-reading one of my favorite challenged books, The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky.
