Love it or Hate it the Booklist: Part Three Fantasy

Almost halfway to Valentine's Day and we've still got books for you! Today we are going to look at romances not based in the real world. Whether it's fairies, vampires or super spies, romance is in the air (for better or worse).

Impossible by Nancy Werlin: A family curse, an Elfin Knight and the song Scarborough Fair await 17 year old Lucy. Now she must complete three impossible tasks before her child is born or else Lucy will lose her mind, and her daughter will inherit the curse.

Tithe by Holly Black: Kaye has never felt at home in this world. Sure she had fairy friends growing up, but she never imagined she was one of them. After a chance encounter with an Elfin Knight she ends up in the court of fairies, and wonders just who is this dark Knight?

Avalon High by Meg Cabot: Ellie is the new girl at her Maryland school where she befriends Jen, her boyfriend Will and his friend Lance. And a math teacher who thinks they there are modern day reincarnations of King Arthur. Ellie wants nothing to do with this story, but sees too many similarities with the legend to ignore. (Also available in Graphic Novel.)

Peeps by Scott Westerfeld: Cal is a peep, that is parasite positive. He's lucky though, he gets the night vision, but none of those messy cannibalistic urges (and he prefers not to use the "v" word, vampire). Cal tracks down other dangerous peeps, including the girl made him parasite positive. When he's pared with Lace he starts developing feelings he's unsure of.

Generation Dead by Dan Waters: Phoebe is a goth who isn't sure how she feels about the living impaired Tommy. It doesn't help that her next door neighbor and football star Adam has a crush on Phoebe. I just finished this one today, and I can not wait for the next book in the series!

I'd Tell You I Love You but Then I'd Have to Kill You by Ally Cater: Welcome to Gallagher Academy, which may look like your normal prep school, but is really a training ground for spies. Cammie may be the best student in spy school, but there is one thing she doesn't know: boys. When she meets a local boy on a covert ops mission, she enters the world of dating, which might be more dangerous than being a spy!

Tune in tomorrow for some short story collections all about the ups and downs of being in love!
I'll see you @ the library!
