Wii Open Play This Saturday!

OK guys, our final open play before the tournaments begin is this Saturday, March 28th, from 2-4 PM in the library Constitution Room (in the atrium, by the fountain). This is going to work pretty much the same as the February open play, so here's the plan:

2-3ish PM: Mario Kart
Sign up at the door in teams of 2-4 players to play relay-style, which means that your team will rotate who plays each of the 4 races that make up a Cup. I'll tally the scores to see how each team places. For more rules and info, see the blog post from Thursday, February 26th- just click on the Wii gaming label at the bottom of this post and then scroll down.

3ish- 4PM: Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Sign up at the door for player order! 4 players will Brawl 3-minute rounds, with the winner staying in and the next 3 players on the sign-up sheet swapping out. I'll tally the wins and the top 4 players will battle a final Brawl to see who gets the glory! For more rules and info, see the blog post from Friday, February 27th.

And, just a reminder, breaking the following rules of sportsmanship will result in disqualification from the next 2 races or brawls (even if you win):
1) Trash talking.
2) Disrupting other gamers' play.
3) Excessive, on-purpose game-pausing.
4) Refusing to let the next gamer play when it's his/her turn.

As always, you're welcome to bring your own Wiimote, Game Cube controller, wheel, nunchuks, etc. to the open plays, BUT keep in mind that for the practice and official tournaments, all gamers will be gaming with library Wiimotes. So, if you rock the Wii with your Game Cube controller but are one step shy of awesome with the Wiimote, you might wanna practice up your Wiimote skills on Saturday!

We'll also have the sign-up sheet for the April practice tournament player order available on Saturday for you guys, so you regulars will get the first bracket slots! I will also have the sample practice tournament bracket so you guys can see how it'll work in April, and, if you sign up, where you'll be playing in the first round. More info and rules will be posted here in early April.

If you can't make it to the Open Play, the practice tournament sign-up sheet will be available at the adult Information desk beginning Monday, March 30th. FYI, the April practice tournament will be limited to 24 gamers, so sign up early!

See you guys at 2PM on Saturday!
Megan

P.S. Feel free to BYO snacks and soda!
