Poetry Raffle Starts Today!

Do you...

A) Love poetry with your entire soul?
B) Have to write some stupid poem for school and you'd like to be able to get something else out of it?
C) Write silly poems for your friends all the time?
D) Love shopping at bookstores and would do anything, even enter a poetry contest at the library, for a chance to win a $10 gift card?
E) Some crazy combination of all of the above?

Then help us celebrate National Poetry Month by entering our Poetry Raffle! It's easy- pick up an entry form at the adult Info desk between April 1st and April 16th, choose from 4 different types of poetry, write it, and turn it back in by April 16, and you'll be entered to win one of two $10 bookstore gift cards!

The 4 types of poetry you can choose from are acrostic, haiku, quatrain, and cinquain poems. You can enter once for each type of poem, for a total of 4 possible chances to win a gift card. Not sure what an acrostic poem is? We'll be posting sample poetry written by our oh-so-talented-and-creative library staff here all next week, so stay tuned!

Winning poetry entries will be drawn on Thursday, April 16th, at our Magnetic Poetry Craft Night.

P.S. While you're picking up your poetry raffle entry, check out our April poetry book display! It's not all Shakespeare, either, we've got some cool novels in verse, fiction about famous poets, and other stuff too.
