Today's April poetry raffle sample poems are haikus! Haiku is Japanese poetry consisting of three lines. The first and third line each have 5 syllables, and the second line has 7 syllables.
From our awesome library poet, Joy, we have:
SUPERMAN
Existential angst.
Panic in Metropolis.
Superman just smiles.
SNOW
Fresh snow on the ground
Winter's pristine beauty
Marred by angel wings.
KITTEN
On a bright cold day
The sun shines through a window.
A cat sleeps in warmth.
And, my rebuttal to Katie's acrostic poem of awesome yesterday:
AN ODE TO RENESMEE
Renesmee Cullen
Hybrid vampire baby is
Too much for Katie.
(OK, technically that's not an ode, since it's a haiku, but...)
Entry forms are available at the adult Info desk. Two winners will be drawn at the Magnetic Poetry Craft night next Thursday, April 16th. See you there!
