Get Creative Book Lists: Music

Day three of the book lists, and only 5 more days till summer reading! Here are some books show off the musical skills of the characters, no matter if they are in a band or aspiring to be a singer!

Born to Rock by Gordon Korman: Leo is Harvard bound until an unfortunate accident gets him in trouble. The only thing more depressing to this Young Republican is that his father is most likely King Maggot, the lead singer of the 80's punk band, The Purge. The only solution is to meet his father by following the Purge on their summer tour.

Diva by Alex Flinn: To get away from her ex-boyfriend, Caitlin is off to a performing arts school in Miami. Not sure where she fits in with the arty students, and not too happy with her mother right now, Caitlin starts a blog (at the advise of her shrink) to work through some of her issues. (Did I mention she's an Opera Star in training?)

Fat Kid Rules the World by K.L. Going: Troy is forced to learn the drums so he can be in Curt MacCrae's band, after Curt saves his life. At about 300 lbs, Troy is more concerned about his weight, and can't understand why Curt would want to be his friend.

Harlem Hustle by Janet McDonald: Eric dreams of making it as a famous rapper, but without the means or connections he ends up on probation for stealing. After making an unlikely friend, this 17-year-old is given the chance to make it. For aspiring rappers, this is a must read.

Rock Star Superstar by Blake Nelson: Pete loves playing the Bass Guitar, and wants nothing more than to make it big with his band, who are on tour for the summer. If you ever wondered what it took to make it in the music business, this is an eye opener. Who knew selling out could be this fun?

There are tons more books I could mention, however in order to keep this short I'll limit this to five musical titles! Tomorrow is all about about writing and writers!
I'll see you @ the library!
Katie (Who left off Just Listen, Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist and Heavy Metal and You, so I'll mention these titles now!)
