Books to Movies!

Looking for something new to watch on a cold Wisconsin weekend? Here are some movies coming out this Winter and Spring that are based on books. Read the book, watch the movie, and then discuss over hot chocolate which was better and why!

The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold. This Peter Jackson film has been out since December, but it's finally getting a wide release this weekend. Bring your Kleenex for this story about a young girl who was murdered, and how her family dealt with the aftermath.

Dear John by Nicholas Sparks (February 5th). This love story about two opposites will have you crying as Savannah and John share their unlikely relationship in letters. She's a college girl, he's in the army, and after 9/11 their relationship starts to fall apart.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan (February 12th). Fans of adventure never fear, this year's movies aren't all chick flicks! This Harry Potter read-a-like gets it's moment on the big screen. I can't wait to see Camp Half Blood and all the Greek gods in this film!

Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney (April). Grab your little brother and sister to check out Greg Heffley's story of middle school woes.

Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll (March 5th). Read the classic tale first, and compare to see how Tim Burton twists this story, maybe you should discuss this one over Tea with a Mad Hatter.

Nothing for your reading or movie viewing tastes? Don't worry, this summer you have Beastly (Alex Flinn) and Eclipse (Stephenie Meyer) to look forward to!

I'll see you @ the library!
Katie (Watching Up this weekend, and reading I am a Genius of Unspeakable Evil and I want to be Your Class President, which might be one of the best titles of all time!)
