Book Review: Numbers by Rachel Ward

Jem is a loner. She has no friends and has been bumped from foster home to foster home since her mother died 9 years ago.

Jen also sees numbers in people's eyes. Each person she sees has a number, and her mothers was 10102001. That was also the date her mother passed away.

Cursed with this skill, Jem finds it easier to be on her own, and friendless. That's when she befriends Spider. Tall and full of energy, Spider is more like her than she wants to admit. A few encounters later, and Jem might just consider Spider a friend.

One day, ditching school they take a trip into London, Jem notices that everyone has an eerily similar death date, which happens to be the day they are in London. Scared, Jem convinces Spider to flee the scene moments before the London Eye explodes. Spider and Jem become the main two suspects in the terrorist attack and go on the run.

Numbers is a fast, eerie thriller that will take you from the city to the suburbs to the middle of nowhere. You'll feel Jem's pain from growing up, to the changes she goes through by befriending Spider. Recommended for teens looking for a creepy, fast paced, makes you think book!
