Book Review: Tiger's Curse by Colleen Houck

It's the summer after senior year, and Kelsey Hayes needs a summer job. So when the woman at the temp agency hands her the posting for a 2-week position with the circus feeding the animals and selling tickets, she takes it.

On her first day, she is introduced to Dhiren, a gorgeous white tiger with hypnotic cobalt-blue eyes. Kelsey is immediately fascinated by the beautiful animal. Soon, she is completely smitten with gentle Dhiren, spending all her free time talking and reading to him. For the first time since her parents died her freshman year, Kelsey feels like someone really understands her - even if he is a tiger. So when the circus owner announces that a mysterious man has bought Ren and will be taking him to a tiger preserve in India, Kelsey is heartbroken. She wants Ren to be free - but she'll really, really miss him.

So when Mr. Kadam, the mysterious tiger buyer's representative, asks Kelsey to accompany him and Dhiren to India to help care for her tiger friend on the journey, she jumps at the chance. But Ren and Mr. Kadam are not what they seem to be. Ren is indeed a white circus tiger - but he is also a 300-year-old Indian prince cursed to be a tiger all but 24 minutes of the day. Before she knows it, Kesley is spending her summer trekking through the jungles of India, unraveling ancient mysteries and battling fantastic creatures on her quest to break the curse on her beloved Ren.

Fast-paced and full of detailed descriptions of the lush Indian landscape, exotic temples, legends, mythology, and spicy cuisine, Tiger's Curse is the story of an epic quest full of adventure, twists, turns, surprises, and sweet, sizzling romance. You won't want to put this down until you find out if Kelsey can find a way to break Ren's curse - and if she'll let herself fall in love with her handsome, blue-eyed tiger prince. Look for Book 2 in The Tiger Saga, Tiger's Quest, on June 7th!
