Book Review: Modelland by Tyra Banks

High on top of a mountain is a place so exclusive that there is only one day a year that girls are chosen to enter. No one knows how to get in, but there are things that can increase your odds. It is from these girls that the Intoxibellas are chosen. Seven of the most beautiful supernatural women who are superstars.

Girls like Tookie De La Creme do not get into Modelland. Her hair that can't decide if it is curly, straight, frizzy or whatever, and her body is awkward. It's also her different colored eyes sit beneath her five-head. No, girls like her little sister Myrracle are made for Modelland, beautiful, graceful and perfect.

So why is it that Tookie is the once picked to go up to Modelland? And how did she get paired up with other girls who are too short, too big, or too pale to ever dream of becoming Intoxibellas? And is that really the last Triple 7 Ci~L, missing for months really leading them into Modelland?

Hold on to your hats and suspend all disbelief for this fun, fast and fashionable ride through a world where models rule. There is a lot going on, and friendship, family and of course fashion are all big parts of Tyra Banks' first book. It is over 500 pages, but it goes by fast as you are dying to find out what happens to Tookie and her friends.

Modelland is for anyone who has ever looked at a fashion magazine in disbelief, watched America's Next Top Model and practiced their runway walk. Trust me when I'm saying I can not wait for the second book in this series.

I'll see you @ the library!
