Coming Soon to a Theater Near You

Have you heard about the classic YA book that's being made into a movie to be released next year?

You think I'm talking about the Hunger Games, don't you? Sure I'm just as excited as the next librarian about seeing Katniss on the big screen, but another YA book is causing some buzz.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower, is an older YA title, first published in 1999. It takes place during Charlie's freshman year in high school, and he writes letters to a friend, who he doesn't know but he knows he can trust. From not having any friends, to being welcomed into the world of Patrick and his beautiful sister Sam, Charlie attempts to move from being an observer to a participant in life.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower takes on a lot of issues, and Charlie is not your average freshman. Fans of John Green's Looking for Alaska or Paper Towns or 13 Reasons Why by Jay Asher will enjoy this realistic portrayal of high school.

The movie should be out in 2012, and it stars Logan Lerman (aka Percy Jackson), Emma Watson (aka Hermione Granger)and Nina Dobrev from the Vampire Diaries. Realistic fiction fans take note, pick up the book and wait for the movie to be released!

I'll see you @ the library!
