Book Review: What Boys Really Want by Pete Hautman

Lita and Adam have been friends (and nothing more) forever. Then Adam decided to write a book, or Lita gave Adam the idea to write a book, but that is when things started to get bad.

It all started with the fact that Emily liked Dennis, but Dennis didn't notice Emily because he liked Blair, who dresses a bit like a bad girl and has some unfortunate rumors surrounding her. While Lita tries to figure out how to get Emily on Dennis's radar, Adam gets his big idea to write his book.

Quite simply, his book is a guide for girls to understand what guys think and what girls can do to get their attention (and this has more to do with food than make-up). Writing a books is harder than he expected, but with a tip from Lita to check out advice blogger Miz Fitz writing the book becomes easier than expected.

With some genius marketing, and help from some teachers and friends Adam is having success with his future book. What he doesn't get is why Lita is so angry at him. Maybe it has to do with the fact that writing is Lita's thing, and maybe it has a little bit to do with the fact that Miz Fitz might not be as unknown as we think.

What Boys Really Want is a fun read, that will keep you laughing. Told in both Adam and Lita's voices, you get both sides of the story. Adam is a "typical" boy, who has a good idea and runs with it. Lita might be a little tough, but you'd totally want to be her friend after you hear her advice. Readers will see why these two are friends and nothing more than that.

Readers looking for light romance with a heavy dose of humor will enjoy Pete Hautman's latest.

I'll see you @ the library!
