Book Review: The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey

When Aliens finally decided to make their presence known to humans, the message was first delivered with silence. Then the power went out. Next, giant tsunamis took out the coasts. Third, a disease wiped out most of the remaining population. And then there were the silent killers.

For Cassie, life after the giant ships clouded her sky has been much different from her before days as a normal high school girl. At least she had her father and her brother, until her brother got taken to a military base, and her father was gone. Now life is just Cassie, and her goal is to survive and meet up with her brother again. Survival is hard with the drones searching for her, and now that the weather is turning colder she has to keep on the move. Each time she moves she loses more of her past, and more of the girl who lived in the suburbs with her parents.

It's a world where survival is the only game, and there's no way to tell who the good guys from the bad. Action packed, and full of twists and turns, The 5th Wave is a keep the night light on book that moves fast. Cassie isn't the only person fighting to survive, however any more information will give away plot points, and this here is a spoiler free review of the book.

Grab The 5th Wave if you're looking for a series for after the Hunger Games or Divergent. Also, book two, The Infinite Sea, comes out this October, so there's not too long to wait!

I'll see you @ the library!
