Book Review: Through the Woods by Emily Carroll

Three sisters left alone while their father goes out to hunt. A new bride hearing noises at night in he new home. A brother, now a hero seeing his brother, who shouldn't be here. A friend who pretends to be connected to the spirit world, who can't see the spirit haunting her. A brother, taken in by his fiancee unaware of who she really is. Five chilling tales of people told what to do, or what not to do, and living with the consequences.

This Graphic Novel is lush, and while the words as sparse, they tell just enough to let your imagination run wild. The images in black, white and red jump off the page, highlighting both the seen, and alluding to the unseen.

This years Milwaukee County Teen Book Award Winner, and a great Graphic Novel, is a spooky look at the things that dwell in the woods, in the dark and around the corner. Not just for fans of Graphic Novels, this book will appeal to those who like to be scared,

I'll see you @ the library!
