Book Review: Carry On by Rainbow Rowell

Simon Snow is the chosen one. He is the one who will save the world of mages, and defeat the great evil that is upon them. Of course, he has to get through his last year at Watford School for Mages first. He loves just about everything at Watford, from the food to his friends, and the magic. There is one little thing he wishes he didn’t have to deal with (aside from the Insidious Humdrum attacking him every so often) is his roommate, Baz.

The year is off to an awful start, with the Mage not wanting Simon to go to Watford at all, an attack by Goblins on the way to school, and worst of all Baz is not there. Plus, a veil between the living and the dead has been opened, and people are sending messages back and forth. Will Baz ever come back? Will Simon defeat the Insidious Humdrum?

Carry On by Rainbow Rowell is one of those fun fantasy adventures that should appeal to fans of books like Harry Potter. Plus, if you’ve read FanGirl, you’ll remember Simon, Baz and the world of Mages from Cath’s fan-fiction. Rainbow Rowell puts you right in the middle of Simon’s world, and story. While you might miss the first (non-existent) eight books in the series, there book is set up to give you all the information you need to cheer for Simon and Baz!

I”ll see you @ the library!
