Winter Reading Bingo: Books Based on True Stories

Here are some more tips for Winter Reading Bingo! Finding books based on true stories sounds like it might be hard, but really, it's not!

For starters, you can take it one of two ways, non-fiction books that tell about events that happened in the past, or you can look at fiction that is based on real people and events. Here are a few from each category that might be of interest to teens:

My Book of Life by Angel (Based off of murders in Vancouver in the 1980's)
Prisoner of Night and Fog (Based off the life of Hitler's niece, during WWII)

From the Non-fiction collection:
Symphony for the City of the Dead (The siege of Leningrad, and Dmitri Shostakovitch's life)
Diary of a Young Girl (The Diary of Anne Frank)
Into the Wild (Follows the life of a young man who goes off the grid)
Columbine (Examines the events leading up to the Columbine school shooting)

This is only a short list of the many many non-fiction and fiction stories that are based on real people, places and events!

I'll see you @ the library!
