Community Read: Coming May 2019

Did you know May is Mental Health Awareness Month? This year, the City of West Allis (including the library) as well as some other pretty awesome community organizations, like Aurora Medial Center, West Allis- West Milwaukee School District and some cool local businesses is bringing you a whole bunch of activities, including a community read!

Why am I bringing this up on the teen blog? Because we want you to read the book, and come talk about it. The book in question is It's Kind of a Funny Story by Ned Vizzini, and it's the story of a young man who struggles with depression, and suicidal thoughts who checks himself in to a local hospital due to said thoughts.

Books will be available at little free libraries and around town soon. The library will have some copies for check out as usual.

If you are interested in the events, like the teens only Mental Health Break on May 30th, check out the event web page over at www.westalliswi.gov/communityread.

I'll see you @ the library!
Katie

Please remember, if you are having  suicidal thoughts and are in a crisis please call the Hopeline at 1-800-273-8255 or text "Hopeline" to 741741.
