Here are some titles featured at August’s Teen Book Club:
Something you might have missed: The Gatekeepers by Jen Lancaster:
Jen Lancaster is one of my favorite authors, and I was so excited when she wrote a YA novel! This is the story of teens living in North Shore, Illinois. Everything is perfect, until you look too close. These four teens deal with stress, mental health, and living a perfect life in the shadow of a friend's death.
Something New: The Darkness Outside Us by Eliot Schrefer
Reviews say this is a Science Fiction/ Mystery/ Romance that's really well written. Ambrose is in space, on mission to save his sister. The only other person on the vessel is Kodiak, who is a member of an enemy group. It becomes clear that things aren't as they seem, as the two start to fall for each other!
Something True: The Teen Girl's Anxiety Survival Guide by Lucie Hemmen, PhD
I love this series, Instant Help Solutions, and I think with school starting any of their titles would be great for teens! This one has practice suggestions to deal with and conquer your anxiety. Read this one before midterms!
Katie's Pick: Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta
Two different stories, separated by 22 years, expertly woven together. Each story comes out piece by peice and and as you learn more about each story you see the threads connecting them. This is an oldie but a good one, and it won a Printz award in 2009! A school story for your start of school.
Next Teen Book Club will be September 25th at 2 PM! Check back for more details!
