Katie's Picks: September Teen Book Club

Did you miss teen book club this month? If so, here are the titles Katie shared:

Book Katie Really Wants to Read: In the Wild Light by Jeff Zentner

I've been a huge fan of Zentner's books since The Serpent King, and this new book is about getting out of a small town in Appalachia, and finding out who you are meant to be. I just started it, and the friendship between Cash and Delaney is so heartbreaking and real, and I can't wait to stay up too late reading this one!

Nonfiction Book for your Reading Radar: Fallout by Steve Sheinkin (YA 972.91 Sh4)

History is not my strong suit, however Steve Sheinkin writes amazing readable history, and his newest book is called Fallout. Once allies during World War II, the United States and The Soviet Union are now at odds with each other, and this tells us how this happened, and what possibly could have happened due to both countries having destructive bombs.

Book You May Have Missed: The Education of Margot Rivera by Lilliam Rivera

Other than having one of the best covers for a YA book (the hair, the yellow font, the facial expression), this book sounds like everything I would love. Margot gets in big trouble for buying a new wardrobe, and must work off her debt by working in her family's grocery store. Fans of In the Heights won't want to miss this one!

Random Pick: Go the Distance by Jen Calonita

Hear me out. I have been reading the Percy Jackson series, and am currently OBSESSED with Greek Mythology. So when I saw this tale of Meg, from the Disney movie Hercules who now has to become a Greek God to be worthy of Hercules. If you ever wanted more Meg when you watched Hercules, this one is for you!

Bonus shout out to Percy Jackson Book 4: The Battle of the Labyrinth. This is the book I'm reading at home, that our teen participant brought too! It's such a great series! If you haven't read the Percy Jackson books, this is your sign to start!
